Anthony Davis Takes Major Step in Return from Injury

Anthony Davis has missed a big chunk of the regular season and there’s an update on his return from his injury. Davis suffered two major injuries this season and it was bad. His MCL sprain forced him to miss 17 games. The big man was expected to return in April and he is an optimist now.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel revealed that Davis has had full practice with the Lakers yesterday. This news came like a relief because LeBron James suffered an injury and may miss some time. The Lakers listed him as doubtful for tonight’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. Davis may not return tonight and LeBron may not play either.

“If everything continues to progress well in Davis’ rehab, the All-Star big man could be suiting up for games by the first week of April, at the earliest, sources told ESPN,” Dave McMenamin reported. “The Lakers have gone 18-7 in the past two postseasons when Davis and James were in the lineup and able to finish the game. That’s the stat that keeps L.A.’s locker room believing, despite how difficult this season has been.”

Anthony Davis to return from his injury

Davis may be injured but he is an optimist about his health. He wants to play his best basketball and things look really good right now. He may join the team sooner than expected.

“I’m very optimistic about it,” Davis said on March 13. “I’m trying to get back on the court as soon as possible. As far as a number or something, I would love to say 100, but with only a certain amount of games yet, not 100 percent sure. … When it first happened, I heard the crunching, like everything in my foot, and the first thing I heard, when I looked up and I just saw either Royce O’Neale or Donovan Mitchell turn around like, ‘Oh sh*t.’ And when I looked down, and I couldn’t move my foot, my first thought was, ‘Please let it not be broken.’”

The Lakers can’t wait to have Davis back in the fold. When healthy, his game is really sharp. Hopefully, he returns by the end of the season.
