Dennis Schroder Delivers Fierce Defense of Lakers’ Russell Westbrook

Dennis Schroder is one of the many NBA players to stand in defense of Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook. The nine-time All-Star was disrespected during the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Patrick Beverley went to the Lakers bench to call him “trash” and even held his nose. It was really ugly and a lot people condemned his attitude.

Westbrook struggled a lot this season and faced serious criticism in the last few months. Heckling fans call him names and “Westbrick” is their favorite. The situation is so bad that Westbrook’s wife and kids don’t attend his games. People are shaming his name and he doesn’t want his family to go through the whole thing.

Schroder watched the situation unfold and decided to defend Russ. They were teammates on the Oklahoma City Thunder after all.

“You guys are wild!!! An airball is the same as a miss …..whether you hit the rim or not! Hall Of Famer !!!” Schroder said in reference to Karl-Anthony Towns’ “gesture” after Westbrook’s air ball.

The good news? Westbrook tries to stay away from the mess. He knows that fans can get really nasty during games.

“I honestly don’t pay no mind to it,” Westbrook said after the loss. “Maybe the other guys [do]. But they weren’t talking to me. They were talking to individual guys particularly, but the trash talking doesn’t bother me none.

“Nobody over there has done anything in this league that would make me pick my eyes up, like, ‘Oh, they’re talking mess. Let me respond.’ No. It’s fine. They’re good. They won the game. Happy for them. Move onto the next one.”

Wayne Ellington knows that NBA fans and players like to step over struggling players. It’s like a tradition in the NBA. No one goes any near favorites, but they do stomp over players who struggle to make an impact.

We have a few good reasons to believe that the Lakers will part ways with the veteran this offseason. Rob Pelinka didn’t make a trade at the deadline, but he will probably get rid of Russ.
