Kendrick Bourne Reveals How Bill Belichick Changed His Life

The New England Patriots have a lot of great players on their roster. They did a decent job in 2021 and yes, Patriots coaches are really proud. Kendrick Bourne was brilliant last season and Bill Belichick helped him be the best version of himself.

Bourne appeared on Fubo Sports Network’s “Getcha Popcorn Ready with T.O. & Hatch” to talk about his season with the Patriots and all the things that contributed to his success. What motivated him to provide such great results?

Proper hydration. In fact, Belichick taught him how to drink water.

“(Belichick) taught me really how to hydrate,” Bourne said. “He sat me out of practice because I failed the hydration test. … This is what I needed, though. Because I want to buy in. I’m trying to be the best I can be. And this is how they work, so I’m like, ‘OK, I’ve got to figure this out.’ And I kind of just found a routine.”

Kendrick Bourne respects Bill Belichick

Belichick’s suggestion helped Bourne a lot. He didn’t struggle to perform on the field, but Belichick’s advice was of really great help. It enhanced his performance.

“I wasn’t hydrating in San Francisco at all,” said Bourne. “I was hydrating, but not (enough). … (Belichick) just sat me out, and I’m like, ‘Bro, he’s serious about this. He ain’t playing with me.’ … Over time, I just learned how to drink water in the morning, drinking it all until practice, and I just found myself getting better. Like, now my body’s feeling better. I could make it through practice easy. Could go longer after practice, throw extra and things like that. … I put on 10 pounds of muscle.

“It was just a shift, man. I bought into everything, and that was one of the smallest details of buying in. It’s a small detail, but people don’t think about it. They don’t drink water. I just (started doing that) every day, and everything got better after that, off that little detail, adding it to my routine. It was huge.”

Belichick is the best head coach in the NFL and Bourne knows it. The Patriots wideout had nothing but words of praise for the Patriots head coach.

“Bill Belichick, man,” Bourne said. “One hundred percent, Bill Belichick changed my life. He’s the best coach in the world. Shoutout to you, Bill Belichick. He is the best coach in the world, hands down.”

Proper hydration is not the only advice Bourne received. I guess Belichick is not too happy about his diet. The former San Francisco 49ers wideout likes his McDonalds meals but he is about to change it. Bourne is all in when it comes to maintaining his consistency. It’s all about maintaining strong balance.
