Lakers Warned Against Making Blockbuster Anthony Davis Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers have to get rid of some players in order to make things work. The 2021-22 roster looked really fine and had all the players Rob Pelinka needs to make the playoffs. Well, the Lakers lost the game to the Dallas Mavericks and this loss may have put an end to their playoff hopes. If the regular season ends now, the Lakers won’t even take part in the play-in tournament. So, who is the first player to go? Russell Westbrook? Some bet on Anthony Davis. Will the Lakers even consider pulling out a blockbuster Davis trade?

Getting the big man was of really good help for the team. He helped the Lakers win a ring in the middle of the pandemic. NBA team finished their season inside a bubble and the Lakers won the championship. Injuries happened and AD missed a lot of games in the past couple of seasons. He is still out. That MCL strain forced him to miss a lot of games. However, Davis is one of the best players in the NBA.

Lakers shouldn’t consider making a blockbuster Davis trade

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst talked about the potential trade. According to him, the Lakers shouldn’t even think of trading one of the best two-way players.

“I think it will be something that’s discussed,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up. “I think it would be a mistake because you’re still talking about a guy, when healthy, is a top-15 player. You’re not gonna be replacing it.”

Davis played just 73 games in the last two seasons. Trading Davis may force LeBron to leave the team too. Windhorst wouldn’t even rely on this possibility. LeBron moved his business to LA and his kids go to school in the big city. Moving from LA is not an option right now.

“LeBron loves living in LA,” Windhorst added. “(He) loves raising his kids there, loves sending them to that high school, Sierra Canyon. I don’t think he wants to move.”

This season is doomed and only a miracle could save it. We are not losing hope though.
