Matthew Judon, Other Patriots Actively Recruiting Chandler Jones

The New England Patriots have been linked to many players this offseason and Chandler Jones is one of them. Head coach Bill Belichick has to replace some of the players on his roster. Kyle Van Noy is gone and JC Jackson signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. The team also traded Chase Winovich to the Cleveland Browns. They signed Matthew Slater and Devin McCourty. James White got a new deal, too.

If you ask Patriots players, they’d add Jones to their roster. Judon is one of the most vocal players and he spends his free time trying to lure free agents to New England. In one of his most recent moves on Twitter, Judon did an effort to get the Cardinals outside linebacker. It is a smart move because Jones is entering the open market on Wednesday.

Patriots have a reason to get Chandler Jones

The Patriots were the first to get Jones but decided to trade him after the 2015 season. It was a good move for the outside linebacker because he made three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro first teams.

That’s why Devin McCourty and Kendrick Bourne supported Judon. They want Jones on their roster, too. I mean, who wouldn’t try to get someone who has 107 ½ career sacks, 118 career tackles for loss, 33 career forced fumbles. Great stats earned him a spot on the Patriots’ and the NFL’s All-Decade teams. McCourty has a reason to support Jones’ arrival in New England because they were teammates from 2012-2015.

The Patriots haven’t shown any interest in getting Jones but they should take this into consideration. Judon would be a good fit for the Patriots defense.

There’s one major problem though. The Patriots won’t spend a lot of money this free agency because honestly, they don’t have the same cap space they had in 2021. However, getting a familiar name back is always a good idea and Jones was really happy during his stint with the team. It’s a long offseason and the Patriots have plenty of time to come up with the perfect plan.
