Patriots Cornerback Recruiting Stephon Gilmore After Malcolm Butler Return

The New England Patriots got a few familiar names back on the fold and Jonathan Jones would gladly share the field with a former Patriots star. If you ask Jones, he will bet on Stephon Gilmore and Malcolm Butler. The talented cornerback shared his thoughts on Butler’s return and he will most certainly celebrate Gilmore’s reunion with the Patriots. Of course, the team hasn’t even mentioned a potential reunion but Jones is really excited about the whole idea.

Re-signing Butler was a big challenge for the Patriots. His signing came like a shock to many fans but it was a pleasant surprise. Butler made great memories during his time as a Patriot despite the infamous benching. In fact, this was popular topic these days. Suddenly, everyone became so interested in the reasons Bill Belichick had to bench Butler in Super Bowl LII. The Patriots lost the game to the Philadelphia Eagles and Butler watched the game from the sideline. Wonder why? He didn’t say much. Belichick didn’t say much either. Butler has nothing but great words for the Patriots and their head coach. He respects everything Belichick did in his career and he is more than happy to play with his former team. The Patriots offered him a two-year deal.

Will Stephon Gilmore join Malcolm Butler and Jonathan Jones?

Gilmore has a different story to tell. The 2019 Defensive Player of the Year suffered an injury and had to miss a big chunk of the 2020 season. There were a lot of rumors about his future with the Patriots but he joined the team in training camp. It was a good sign and fans stopped speculating. Well, Belichick had different plans and traded Gilmore.

The veteran cornerback is available again and the Patriots may make a move to get him back. Will Belichick give him a better deal this time? Gilmore wasn’t happy with the way Patriots treated his health condition and contract negotiations didn’t go really well.

The idea of playing with Gilmore and Butler again excites Jones and let’s just say a lot of fans support this scenario.
