Report: Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss ‘Stood Up’ To LeBron James

Ben Simmons dropped a shocking report on Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and LeBron James. Buss and former Lakers director of basketball operations Magic Johnson brought LeBron to LA on the very first day of his free agency. LeBron left the Cleveland Cavaliers again and joined  the Lakers. It was a match made in heaven, but the Lakers didn’t win a championship right away.

LeBron sustained a groin injury on Christmas Day and missed a big chunk of the regular season. LA lost too many games and players were way outside the playoff picture. The Lakers traded a few players and picks to get Anthony Davis and it was one of the best moves LA made back then. LeBron and AD led the Lakers to a title inside the Orlando bubble. The Los Angeles Lakers won the 17th title in team history.

Things took a terrible turn at that point. Lakers players sustained too many injuries. They ended up in the play-in tournament last season. I guess they will go through the same again.

Jeanie Buss had meetings with LeBron James and other Lakers players

LeBron and his teammates lost nine of the last 12 games and Buss is definitely frustrated. She even left the arena in the third quarter of the game against the New Orleans Pelicans. If you ask Simmons, he will say that Buss probably taught them a lesson.

“Jeanie Buss is a tough lady, man. … She’s been in the league since the early eighties and I think at some point she stood up to those guys and was like, ‘No, stop. You don’t get to undermine all this. Stop,” Simmons said.

“You’re here. You’re under contract next year. What are we doing?’ and I think they had a powwow, that’s what I heard. But I think she stood up for at least something. For them to unwind last week and pretend they weren’t chaos agents was really strange.”
