Report: Patriots Once Highly Touted Prospect Will Likely Be Gone Soon

The New England Patriots are expected to make a lot of changes this spring. They entered the offseason a little early and head coach Bill Belichick has plenty of time to make the right choices. The Patriots need help at receiver and they can also use a few linebackers. Julian Edelman retired and the Patriots lack a star wideout. N’Keal Harry was supposed to be a good option for the team, but he failed to meet expectations. According to Alex Reimer, the top Patriots prospect will be gone with the wind. Sort of.

The Patriots got Harry in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Belichick had great feelings but his WR played just 33 games in three years. He recorded 57 receptions and 4 touchdowns. We have a good reason to believe that Harry will leave the team really soon.

“Patriots fans likely won’t be forced to watch N’Keal Harry take up space for much longer,” Reimer detailed. “The NFL released fifth-year option numbers for 2019 first-rounders Monday. For a receiver with Harry’s thin resume, the 2023 fifth-year salary stands at $12.425 million. That’s a hard pass.”

Patriots prospect will be gone sooner than expected

Fans really thought that Harry would get the best of his opportunity. Well, the receiver sustained a lot of injuries and struggled to make an impact during games. Oh yes, he also requested a trade through his agent. He joined his teammates in training camp and showed a decent performance. Unfortunately, the team didn’t see any of it in the regular season. Harry didn’t show any improvement and had another disappointing season.

Harry is literally forcing the Patriots to cut him. They have yet to find a star receiver. Harry may be a better fit for another NFL team. He is a talented player but he didn’t flourish in New England.

The Patriots will enter the NFL draft with great plans on the table. NFL analysts made a few predictions regarding Belichick’s offseason moves. One thing stands for sure – he won’t spend too much money on players this time.
