Russell Westbrook’s Clutch Basket in Lakers vs. Raptors Strengthens His Case as Best PG

The Los Angeles Lakers have a chance to improve their record despite the struggles throughout the entire regular season. LeBron James and his teammates lost too many games and ended up ninth in the Western Conference.  The team entered the 2021-22 NBA season as favorite to win the title but it didn’t happen. Players struggled to stay healthy and COVID added salt to the injury. The Lakers haven’t had a good winning streak so far. Some fans place the blame on Russell Westbrook, but he is the best PG at the moment.

Russell Westbrook is the best PG for a reason

The Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Russ helped them seal the deal as he took the game in overtime. It was a beautiful three-pointer and this shot put Russ before Damian Lillard. They were died for the most go-ahead or game-tying shots at the end of NBA games.

Russ joins a great group of veterans. He has 53 clutch shots and is followed by Dame, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. KD and LeBron have 51. Russ seems to unleash the beast inside him in clutch moments. He struggled to make an impact during his time with the Lakers but this shot makes things a little easier for the veteran.

Lakers fans got really frustrated and they place the blame on Broddie. The nine-time All-Star doesn’t want his family to attend home games because fans chant “Westbrick” all the time. Let’s not forget that players disrespect him too. Wayne Ellington described it perfectly. Rivals are merciless when you hit the rock bottom. Patrick Beverley called Russ “trash” and other Minnesota Timberwolves players weren’t too kind either. I guess this attitude motivated Westbrook to go harder next time. Bev’s trash talk fueled his fire and Russ took the game vs Raptors in overtime. He gave his team a chance to win the game and they understood the assignment.

The Lakers have a 30-40 record at this point of the regular season and will probably end up in the play-in tournament. The front office will probably make some changes in the offseason and Russ may be forced to go.
