Lakers Goes Back to Fan Favorite With Late-Season Roster Decision

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t take part in the play-in tournament this season and won’t make the big game again. The front office has plenty of time to rebuild the roster. Trevor Ariza was the first player they waived. According to several sources, the Lakers decided to bring back a fan favorite.

The 2021-22 NBA season ended a little too early for the team. Yes, they still have games to play, but the outcome won’t change. LeBron James and his teammates missed the chance to win a ring. It was more than obvious that this roster won’t work, but Rob Pelinka didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline. He is making moves now.

The front office has to plan things in advance. Pelinka is working on his plan for the 2022-23 NBA season. The first player to bring in was an early-season fan favorite.

Mac McClung has been playing in the G-League affiliate and it looks like the Lakers saw something they like.

Lakers bring back talented fan favorite

McClung was a star in high school who joined the Lakers’ G-League team South Bay. Shams Charania was among the first to report that McClung received a two-way deal with the team.

The Lakers didn’t see much action with the Lakers this season. He is having an incredible time in the G-League and even earned Rookie of the Year honors. NBA analysts praised his athleticism and scoring ability. Well, the Lakers can definitely find great use for their gameplan.

The Lakers will have to make some huge decisions in the offseason. We don’t have much information on McClung’s role with the team. Well, he really hopes to see some serious action.

The talented player appreciated the opportunity he was given. You don’t get a chance to play with the Lakers that often.

Let’s see how things go for the purple and gold. Some players will have to leave the team to create enough room for new names. Pretty much every player on the Lakers roster has been involved in a trade rumor. Who is the next to go?
