Patriots Bring Back Big 320-Pound Defensive Tackle

The New England Patriots are really serious about their offseason. Head coach Bill Belichick has to fill the holes on his roster. He needs receivers and cornerbacks. Well, he also needs players at several other positions. According to Field Yates from ESPN, the Patriots decided to bring back defensive tackle Carl Davis. Belichick pulled out this move right before the start of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Davis, 30, was more than excited about his new deal with the Patriots. He took to his Twitter account to deliver the big news and shared a video of his action on the football field.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Davis in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Baltimore and joined the Cleveland Browns for a short stint. He saw action in just five games in 2019 and had three more games with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts.

Patriots bring back the defensive tackle for a reason

The Patriots offered Davis an opportunity to show his true potential. He joined the team in 2020, but didn’t get the best of his opportunity. The talented player suffered an injury and played just three games. Davis did much better in 2021 and played in all 17 games and had four starts. The Patriots used him as a run-stuffer and he also delivered a sack and a quarterback hit in 2021.

Davis could find a great use as a glue guy for the team. The Patriots really like players like him. Davis can force on the inside and this makes him a really good fit for the team. The Patriots really hope that he and players like him to give support and depth to the defensive unit next season.

Belichick really likes great players like Davis. He is big and can fit in the interior. The Patriots will try to get the best of this draft.

The Patriots have to give Mac Jones enough weapons. He led the team to a seven-game winning streak and we really hope that the young quarterback will do even better next season.
