Shaquille O’Neal Shares His Pick to Replace Frank Vogel as next Lakers Head Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel right after the end of the regular season. Lakers players struggled to make an impact and lost too many games. They struggled with injuries and COVID-19. Well, Vogel was the scapegoat. That’s what some fans and analysts say. There have been several rumors about the next head coach. Shaquille O’Neal has a suggestion for the franchise. According to O’Neal, the Lakers should replace Vogel with Mark Jackson.

Jackson’s name has been commonly mentioned in stories related to LA. He was head coach for the Golden State Warriors, but didn’t win a championship with the team. The Warriors made the playoffs twice and Jackson’s stint was brought to an end. He hasn’t worked as a head coach in the last few seasons and now he may get a chance with the purple and gold.

NBA legend O’Neal believes the Lakers should replace Frank Vogel with the former Warriors head coach

O’Neal would definitely bet on Jackson as the best replacement for Vogel.

“Mark Jackson helped build Golden State before Steve Kerr took it to the next level,” he said. “He made it a very sexy brand to watch, so I’m sure he can do that with LeBron [James] and Russ (Russell Westbrook).”

The best part? LeBron James likes Jackson, too. This is a big deal. LeBron has to like his head coach. This gives Jackson a huge advantage.

Here’s a fun fact. O’Neal joked about him being the next coach for the Lakers. Well, he asked for too much money. The NBA icon wanted about $20 million per year and a multi-year deal with the team. It was just a joke. NBA fans weren’t too excited about this. O’Neal has never coached a team. Will he manage to put together a championship-winning team? He played long time ago. The NBA has changed a lot in the last few years.

The Lakers should also replace some of the players on the current roster. Russell Westbrook will probably leave the team this offseason. Let’s see what happens in the next few months.
