Colin Cowherd Reveals The ‘Best Fit’ For Lakers Head Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a head coach and the front office has already interviewed several candidates. The franchise fired Frank Vogel after the regular season. He led the team to a title, but the last two seasons were a real mess. At least three candidates have been considered favorites to get the job. According to Marc Stein, the Lakers can still get Doc Rivers.

Yes, Rivers is still under contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, but this didn’t stop Colin Cowherd from saying that the legendary head coach is the best fit for the purple and gold.

Rivers has everything a head coach needs and he may be the best person to take the Lakers out of their misery. They have to make some big changes and Rivers’ experience could make things work.

“I’ve always kind of laughed and rolled my eyes at the Doc narrative,” Cowherd said on his radio show Tuesday. “Doc has a 59 percent career winning percentage. That’s the same as Erik Spoelstra and Quin Snyder, who everybody wanted to be the Lakers’ coach.”

Lakers could get an excellent head coach

Rivers has been around for a really long time. He has been a head coach for 23 years. Yes, the Los Angeles Clippers and Sixers didn’t win rings during his time with the team, but the Boston Celtics sure got a title in 2008.

“He’s won a title,” Cowherd said of Rivers. “He played in the game. He has the ability to kind of navigate the stars, and this Lakers team is an old roster. It’s an odd roster. There’s some egos here. I think he and LeBron would work together.”

Truth is, Rivers is one of the best coaches in the NBA. LeBron James appreciates great coaches and Rivers will earn his trust right away. Seeing Rivers join the Lakers as their next head coach would be the best news of the offseason. Let’s see what happens later in the offseason. Will Rivers be the next head coach? Will LA go after another top name? We should just wait for an official decision.
