Huge Rumored Doc Rivers Split Involving LeBron James, Lakers’ Front Office in Head Coaching Search

The Los Angeles Lakers are really busy in their head coaching search and it looks like there’s a major situation unfolding in the front office. The team has been linked to several coaches, and of course, Doc Rivers is one of them. He is one of the best head coaches in league history and has experience working with strong personalities. Several analysts suggest that he is the ideal head coach for the purple and gold. LeBron James likes him, too.

The Lakers are coming off of a bad season and firing Frank Vogel was the first thing they did. Some would say Vogel was the scapegoat, while others blame him for Russell Westbrook’s down season. Vogel led the Lakers to a title a couple of seasons ago, but things went terribly wrong following the championship win. Lakers players sustained injuries and the lineup looked differently every other night. Was he responsible for the mess? Well, the Lakers wanted to move on without him.

As you all know, LeBron plays a big role in every decisions his team make. He doesn’t have the final world, but he sure has a few recommendations. According to recent reports, there’s a disagreement between LeBron and the front office regarding the head coaching search.

Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham is frontrunner to get the job. Former Portland Trail Blazers boss Terry Stotts and former Brooklyn Nets head coach Henry Atkinson are also candidates.

The Lakers have to be careful about their head coaching search

King James would go with Rivers. He has tons of respect for the legendary coach. A Western Conference Executive told Sean Deveney that LeBron would “pick Doc.”

“If LeBron could pick,” he said, “it’s pretty certain he’d pick Doc.”

This alleged disagreement may turn into something big this offseason. Rivers is an excellent coach and he could be a good fit for the purple and gold. The Lakers need an experienced leader who won’t have trouble coaching LeBron and Anthony Davis. Let’s not forget that they also need someone to handle Russell Westbrook. Brodie had issues with Vogel and head coaching candidates were asked questions about his potential role with the team.
