Jeanie Buss Breaks Silence on Lakers Regular Season

The Los Angeles Lakers signed a lot of talented players and even traded for Russell Westbrook. The front office had great plans for the season, but things didn’t work the way everyone planned. Jeanie Buss had great plans, too, but Lakers players lost too many games in the regular season.

Lakers fans were visibly disappointed. They teased LeBron James and called Russell Westbrook names. Well, Buss was more disappointed by anyone. She spent a lot of money to pack the roster with talent and the Lakers didn’t even make the play-in tournament.

Jeanie Buss wants her Lakers players to have a better season

The Lakers owner didn’t say much throughout the season, but he decided to open up in a piece for The Los Angeles Times.

“I’m growing impatient just because we had the fourth-highest payroll in the league. … When you spend that kind of money on the luxury tax, you expect to go deep into the playoffs,” Buss said. “So, yeah, it was gut-wrenching for me to go out on a limb like that and not get the results that we were looking for. … I’m not happy, I’m not satisfied.”

Fans were impatient too. They heckled players during games and it was really frustrating. Westbrook didn’t want his family to attend games just because fans were too loud and disrespectful.

“We don’t like to be missing the playoffs, I understand the fans anger and frustration,” Buss said. “I’ve got to make it better.”

It’s a long offseason and Buss will do whatever it takes to make things work. She may take a different approach this time.

“Absolutely, if we are not living up to the Lakers standard, absolutely I will look at everything,” Buss said. “I will make the hard decisions, because that’s what you have to do.”

The Lakers have to play big and smart this offseason. They have been advised to trade Westbrook and Anthony Davis. Oh, yes, some analysts believe that the Lakers should also trade LeBron James before he leaves the team with nothing. The list of possibilities is really long, but we have a few good reasons to believe that Buss will do her best to keep LeBron on the roster.
