Magic Johnson Believes Lakers Shouldn’t Trade LeBron James

Magic Johnson would definitely agree that LeBron James makes the best headlines each offseason. The four-time NBA champion is involved in heavy trade talks, but the Lakers haven’t really said a word. Jeanie Buss and Johnson did their best to bring LeBron to LA a few seasons ago. King James signed a four-year deal on the first day of his free agency. LeBron left the Cleveland Cavaliers twice and decided to become a Laker. He moved his office to LA and things look really great for him and his family. I mean, LeBron is the GOAT and he made the best decision for him and his loved ones.

Here’s a fun fact. LeBron is set to become a free agent in 2023. Of course, he can ink another deal with the Lakers. His oldest son, Bronny, is entering the NBA in the same offseason. King James said he would sign with the team that selects his son in the draft. This puts a big question mark on his future with the Lakers.

Magic Johnson wants LeBron James to stay in LA

LeBron came to LA to win, but the Lakers weren’t really winning in the last two games. They lost a lot of games due to injuries. LeBron and Anthony Davis missed a big chunk of their seasons due to injuries. Rob Pelinka has to make big changes this offseason. Some advised him to take LeBron out of his misery, while others believe LeBron is the only one who can take the Lakers to a title. Magic Johnson would go with option No.2.

“LeBron I hope will be a Laker for a long time,” Johnson told TMZ Sports.

The next Lakers head coach

This interview was brilliant for so many reasons. TMZ also asked Johnson if he’d ever consider coaching the Lakers. The Hall of Famer was the Lakers director of basketball operations when LeBron joined the franchise. His experience is massive, but he’d never coach a team. Wonder why?

The Lakers fired Frank Vogel after the regular season and there has been huge speculation about the next head coach. Shaq O’Neal liked the idea, but asked for too much money.
