The Patriot Latest Signing Resembles Julian Edelman

The New England Patriots made a lot of great moves in the offseason although some of these signings were pretty shocking. Head coach Bill Belichick got an offensive lineman with his first pick and also selected a quarterback. That’s not all. The Patriots also signed an undrafted FA D’Eriq King. According to several analysts, the most recent Patriots signing resembles Julian Edelman.

Yes, THE Julian Edelman. The former Patriots wideout made history and definitely earned his spot in the books. Edelman called it career but it looks like the Patriots have found an excellent replacement.

King was quarterback and wide receiver at Miami University and the University of Houston. His versatility impressed analysts and may be the new Edelman on Belichick’s roster.

“I’m excited, it’s good,” reported Aaron Wilson for Pro Football Network. “I was a little nervous because of the unknown, but I was blessed enough to sign with a team like the Patriots. I’m thankful for the opportunity. It was an exciting time. I talked to Matt Groh, and he was excited. I’m thankful for the opportunity. He told me I’ll do a little bit of everything — receiver, quarterback, running back — whatever I can do to stick.”

Patriots are signing King for a reason, he resembles Julian Edelman

King is getting a really great chance with the Patriots.

“Absolutely, definitely motivated to prove my worth. I’m just excited to play football, period,” he said. “I’m definitely motivated, and you have a chip on your shoulder, whether you get drafted or not. I’ve played quarterback my whole life, but I think I can be a pretty good receiver as well.”

Joe Judge had the opportunity to watch King work during a private workout. King attracted the attention of several teams, including the Baltimore Ravens. NFL teams could definitely find great use for his impeccable skills. King thought his final year in college would be a lot different.

“I didn’t have a good season. It got cut short because of injuries. Still, there was that little feeling when the draft is going that something might happen and this team might draft me in this round.”

King has great plans for his professional career and he is really trying to give his best. The Patriots want him and he will definitely earn his spot.

“Definitely make the team, but I want to make plays as well,” King said. “I want to do what I can to be seen and have the opportunity to make the team. I’m going to try to get on special teams, too.”
