Controversial Trade Proposal Replaces Lakers’ Anthony Davis With 3-Time DPOY

The Los Angeles Lakers have a few trade options on the table right now. Trading Russell Westbrook seems to be the most reasonable option for the team. Well, NBA analysts have also mentioned other players. According to recent sources, the Lakers may trade Anthony Davis for a former DPOY. Is this even possible?

Rob Pelinka will be super busy in the offseason. His team left the playoff race too soon. The offseason started earlier than usual, but this also gives the Lakers more time to repair the damage. Lakers players struggled to stay healthy and both LeBron and Davis missed significant time due to injuries. Other players struggled to make an impact. Russell Westbrook was supposed to make a difference, but he didn’t make any. Lakers fans were frustrated and they all wanted him out.

A few analysts believe that Davis is a better trade asset than Westbrook. Yes, he is coming off of a bad season and he didn’t even get a chance to play a lot. However, when healthy, Davis is one of the better players in the NBA.

Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune has a trade suggestion for the Lakers. Davis may end up with the Utah Jazz. What will Pelinka get? Rudy Gobert and a 2026 first-rounder. Does this make sense?

“There are not a ton of viable options on L.A.’s roster, so let’s swap out the teams’ respective centers,” Walden wrote. “Davis’ injury history makes this more plausible. Utah gets the younger and more talented all-around guy, so it also sends out a future first.”

Gobert was the Defensive Player of the Year in three occasions. The Lakers could definitely use a defensive player like him.

In the 2021-22 NBA season, Gobert was averaging 15.6 points per game. Davis averaged 23.2 points per game. Both players are great defenders. Let’s just hope that Davis stays healthy. His health condition will play a big role in the upcoming season.

Pelinka and Jeanie Buss haven’t made much comments about their offseason plans. LA has a new head coach and they may try to adjust the roster to the new situation.
