Darvin Ham Raises Eyebrows With Bold Russell Westbrook Statement

The Los Angeles Lakers have a new head coach and this may be a game-changer for the franchise. Darvin Ham joined the Lakers at the right time and he may find the right solution for Russell Westbrook. Ham accepted a big challenge and showed better potential than any other candidate LA interviewed in the offseason.

The Lakers were looking for someone who can handle the mess on the roster. They needed a head coach who can find a way to get the best of Westbrook.

If you ask Ham, he will say that Westbrook can definitely make a difference. Several NBA analysts believe that Westbrook can no longer contribute to his teams. Well, Ham has different plans for the veteran guard.

“Russ is one of the best players our league has ever seen and there is still a ton left in that tank,” Ham said. “I don’t know why people tend to try to write him off.”

Interestingly, Westbrook was the only player to show up for Ham’s press conference. Ham is super excited about coaching the All-Star.

Darvin Ham and Russell Westbrook will work well together

Vogel had issues with the Lakers veteran. He benched Westbrook in multiple occasions. Brodie was a bit frustrated because he wanted the team to give him a chance.

What will Ham do first?

“Russ and I have had some really, really great one-on-one convos man,” Ham said. “The biggest word that came out of those discussions were sacrifice. That was the biggest word … and it’s not just Russ.”

Ham can understand players and this may help him find the right spot for Westbrook. This is definitely a promising statement.

LeBron didn’t show up for the press conference, but he was more than happy about Ham’s hiring. He took to his Twitter to share his excitement.

Ham and LeBron talked and that’s the only thing that matters.

“I talked to LeBron on my first day in the gym and I wanted to start training camp the next day,” Ham said.

Lakers fans have great expectations from this team.
