Jakobi Meyers ‘Definitely’ Wants to Stay with the Patriots

The New England Patriots have a lot of valuable players on their roster. Some of these guys wouldn’t leave the team for anything in this world. Jakobi Meyers is one of them and he sure plans to stay with the team for a really long time.

Meyers doesn’t have much to prove at this point. He is a brilliant player and the Patriots can find a great use for his talent. Meyers would love to get a better deal this offseason. Hopefully, head coach Bill Belichick will do his best to keep him around.

New England found a true gem in Meyers. He became one of the best pass catchers in the last few seasons. In his three seasons with the Patriots, Meyers was able to do 168 receptions, 1,954 yards, and a couple of touchdowns. The veteran is coming off of his best season with the Patriots. He scored team-high 83 receptions for 866 yards.

Jakobi Meyers is giving his best, Patriots have to keep him

Would he consider inking a deal with the Patriots? Absolutely.

“Definitely,” Meyers said. “Who wouldn’t, honestly? It’s a great place to be. The guys in the locker room — I’ve learned more about being a man just from them than probably my whole life. It’s just been great to be around those guys. It’s a great city to be in. I’m happy here. God blessed me with that opportunity, and how could you not jump at it?”

Belichick didn’t waste his time and traded for DeVant Parker in the offseason. He also drafted Tyquan Thornton in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Patriots traded for Parker for a reason and he seems to be building a really good relationship with quarterback Mac Jones.

In other words, the Patriots have a packed unit. Meyers will have to try really hard to keep his spot on the roster and get great money for that.

“At this time, I can only control what I can control,” Meyers said. “That’s just the effort I put on the field, how hard I work, and that’s really just what I’ve been trying to focus on now.”
