Lakers Agree to a Deal With Guard Who Is Son of 7-Time NBA All-Star

The Los Angeles Lakers decided to sign one special player and this one can definitely turn into an All-Star. The franchise signed Scottie Pippen’s son and this signing is making headlines. Pippen Jr. joined the franchise for a workout and it seems like the Lakers spotted something great. The talented kid is officially a Laker.

Shams Charania from The Athletic reported that Pippen will ink a two-way deal. Scottie is taller than his son who measures 6’1’’. The boy is 21 and he did a wonderful job in College. He was named First-team All-SEC in the last couple of seasons. In his three years in college, Pippen averaged 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game.

Shareef O’Neal goes to the Summer League and Pippen did somewhat better. Will this change in the future?

Lakers sign future All-Star?

Young Pippen showed great potential and he may have a chance to become an All-Star, just like his dad. He talked about this with Steve Bulpett from Heavy.com. Being raised by a famous NBA player is a big deal. Of course, the 21-year-old had to deal with some obstacles.

“I’ve always had the name. It always was a pressure to perform, even being a little kid growing up in Chicago. Like, we would go play kids and everyone would go at me. Parents would say, ‘Oh, that Scottie Pippen’s son. Go at him.’ But you know, I’m just used to it. I’m my own person. At the end of the day, I go out there and I compete. You know, my dad’s not out there with me. So I think that at the end of the day, it’s my own legacy, it’s my own name.

“I think the name, it’s a blessing and a curse. You know, people would doubt me because of it, and they expect me to be something and they put certain pressure on me. They think of my dad when they look at me, so I think it is what it is. I’m used to it, but I’m my own person. I’m creating my own legacy here and that’s what I came here to do.”
