LeBron James Has Been in Contact With Star About Lakers Team-Up In 2022

NBA analysts bet on the idea of seeing Kyrie Irving join the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s the hottest topic this summer. Irving’s situation with the Brooklyn Nets is a bit shaky right now. Will he consider leaving the team? If Irving goes somewhere else, Kevin Durant won’t think twice before doing the same. Here comes the fun part. Sources say that LeBron James has been in contact with his former teammate. In other words, King James seems to be interested in teaming up with Irving.

LeBron and Irving spent a lot of time together. They led the Cleveland Cavaliers to many wins. However, their breakup was a bit ugly because Irving requested a trade from the team. He didn’t want to be the second star behind LeBron and signed a deal with the Boston Celtics. Irving is a Nets player now, but his time with the franchise may soon come to an end.

LeBron James to benefit from this contact?

Marc Stein was among the first to report that LeBron has spoken to his former teammate. This doesn’t mean that Irving will go to Los Angeles right away.

“There are credible rumblings in circulation that Irving, for starters, has indeed had some recent contact with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, … I’m told it would be a stretch, though, to suggest that the Lakers are currently pursuing Irving,” Stein wrote.

The Lakers have a chance to get Irving through a trade. They may also sign him as a free agent. Rob Pelinka has a few options on the table right now. Trading Anthony Davis is one of them. If AD stays in LA, the Lakers won’t have too many options left in the offseason. Russell Westbrook is a tradeable asset, but the Nets have shown zero interest in getting him.

LeBron will lure great plans in Los Angeles this offseason. Will he manage to help the front office build a strong team? Pelinka signed a bunch of veterans in 2021, hoping to build a monster team. It didn’t happen. Players failed to make the playoffs again.
