NFL World Reacts To Tom Brady, Mac Jones Comparisons

Tom Brady left the New England Patriots to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and head coach Bill Belichick decided to trust Mac Jones after cutting former NFL MVP Cam Newton. Brady’s departure from New England left a big void on the roster. Belichick thought that Newton would be a decent replacement for the GOAT. Newton did a good job, but the Patriots had a few reasons to get rid of him.

Belichick made Newton compete with his young quarterback. As you all know, the Alabama prospect won the competition. Belichick gave Jones the keys to the offense and he took the Patriots to the playoffs in his first year as a starting quarterback. Not bad for a rookie, huh?

Jones’ success in his first season as a Patriots quarterback made people talk about his future in the league. Is Jones the next Tom Brady?

Tom Brady let Mac Jones handle his former team?

Scott Zolak from The Sports Hub said that Jones earned words of praise from the organization. He did a wonderful job with Josh McDaniels and Patriots coaches followed his development. McDaniels is no longer part of the Patriots coaching staff, but he sure helped the young quarterback unfold a big chunk of his potential.

Zolak added some fuel to the fire though. According to him, people in the Patriots organization say the team trusts Jones like they trusted Brady.

“I think they like the quarterback more than people think… Not that he’s that advanced, but we trust this kid, he reminds us of Tom Brady,” Zolak said.

As usual, Skip Bayless decided to play a little game. He asked the public whether Jones is turning into Brady.

Of course, doubters weren’t having any of it. Brady’s fans don’t even discuss this question.

Jones helped the Patriots win seven straight games in 2021. He was focused on his goal and this helped him beat strong teams in his rookie campaign. Let’s not forget that Brady came to New England in Week 4 and almost lost the game to a rookie.
