Patriots DT Lands in Hot Water with the NFL

Daniel Ekuale won’t make any impact in September. The New England Patriots DT found himself in hot water after the NFL suspended him for mysterious reasons. Yes, we don’t know anything about his suspension. Field Yates was among the first to report this suspension.

This is not Ekuale’s first suspension. In 2018, the then-Cleveland Browns player earned a suspension for violating the league’s substance policy. It was a four-game suspension back then and now he will miss just two. There’s a catch though. If the Patriots DT is suspended for the same reasons, he will have problems later in his NFL career.

Patriots DT found himself in hot water, suspension may affect his future

The Patriots had a few great reasons to trust Ekuale. He turned out to be an excellent replacement during the COVID outbreak. Head coach Bill Belichick elevated him in several games.

Ekuale split his three seasons in the NFL between the Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Patriots. He saw action in 23 games with 5 starts, working on a couple of positions. The Patriots were impressed by his potential and Ekuale inked a futures contract in January. Will this suspension affect his future with the Patriots? Let’s wait and find out. He is a talented player and Belichick won’t let him go that easily. We also know that the Patriots don’t have issues with players like Antonio Brown. They gave him a chance, but it was just too much. He was dealing with several serious accusations and the Patriots decided to get rid of him.

Ekuale’s situation is a lot different. This is just a suspension. Yes, violating the NFL’s policy is a serious problem, but Belichick will sort it out eventually. Julian Edelman was suspended for a few games at the end of his NFL career and yet he was one of the better players on Belichick’s roster.

Patriots players have entered an important season. They have to make an impact and do better than just lead the team to a seven-game winning streak. Mac Jones and his teammates have created a strong bond and things look good at the moment.
