Patriots Listed ‘Best Fit’ for Former No. 4 Overall Pick

The New England Patriots have enough time to adjust their roster. Head coach Bill Belichick will probably make a few more signings by the end of this summer. According to NFL analysts, the Patriots are considered the best fit for one particular player.

Belichick lost a few valuable players in free agency. His defense was pretty strong over the years and now he has to replace some of these guys. Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report has a suggestion. He believes that Clelin Ferrell is a really good fit for the 2022 team.

“While the Raiders may have to change Ferrell’s position to get him on the field, the New England Patriots could use him on the edge,” states Knox. “New England doesn’t have a clear-cut complement to linebacker Matt Judon, who accounted for 12.5 of the team’s 36 sacks in 2021.

“Ferrell would be a bit of a project, but Patriots coach Bill Belichick has long been keen on picking up other teams’ castoffs—Randy Moss, LeGarrette Blount and Danny Shelton are just a few examples. With a potential shot at a significant role—and in a defense that ranked fourth overall and second in points allowed last season—Ferrell could finally have a chance to flourish. All it might take is for new head coach Josh McDaniels to place a call to his old team.”

Patriots could offer a lot as the best fit for Ferrell

Ferrell didn’t have the best start of his NFL career. In his first three seasons on the football field, Ferrell recorded 79 tackles and eight sacks. Belichick could use him as a threat on the edge, but things may not go that easy for the 265-pounder. In 2021, Ferrell delivered 1.5 sacks. That’s not enough to convince Belichick to give him a good deal. Ferrell has to do better in order to become a Patriot.

The Patriots have a few open topics to handle right now. Belichick has a few players to get rid of and N’Keal Harry is one of them. Let’s see how things go for the struggling player. The summer has just started and we are ready for top changes!
