Devin McCourty Reacts To Asante Samuel’s Take On Patriots Dynasty

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady split ways a few years ago and people still talk about their success in New England. They led the team to nine Super Bowl appearances and won six titles. Who was the actual leader of the team? Was it Belichick? Should Brady take all the credit for this success? Asante Samuel said the Patriots had so much success just because Brady was their quarterback. Devin McCourty made his pick and took a different approach while discussing the Patriots dynasty.

The Patriots veteran appeared on NBC Sports Boston’s “The Camera Guys” podcast and talked about the current roster and other important topics. Yes, he also talked about Belichick and the Patriots dynasty.

“You can’t take away from all the decisions that have to be made for a team to go out and win a Super Bowl,” McCourty said on the podcast. “They even talked about it on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast: ‘Well, sometimes you played (a) 4-3 (defense). And sometimes you played 3-4.’ To me, that’s the thing. A lot of people say, ‘He’s a great coach; he put Troy Brown on defense.’ And it’s like, ‘I don’t think that’s what made him a great coach.’ It was what we did in the building.”

Brady may be the GOAT, but other awesome quarterbacks haven’t flashed the same success. Yes, being coached by Belichick is definitely a big deal.

“Don’t get me wrong: You do get to do some things when you’ve got a guy like Tom leading,” McCourty said. “But we watch the game. Like, how great is Aaron Rodgers? ? And he has one Super Bowl. That’s because it’s so hard to win a Super Bowl. Not one quarterback wins all of these Super Bowls. It’s just impossible.”

Finally, McCourty said that both Belichick and Brady are brilliant in their own way. He even said that their mutual effort in New England was the best thing to happen to the Patriots. Having them on the same roster at the same time was brilliant!
