Injured Patriots Fan-Favorite May Not Be Ready to Start 2022 NFL Season

The New England Patriots will have a lot of new names in September. Head coach Bill Belichick made some signings this offseason. Patriots fans have high expectations from veterans, but one fan-favorite may not be ready to join his teammates in 2022.

James White has an army of supporters in the NFL. Patriots fans appreciate everything he has accomplished over the years. The veteran spent his entire career with the Patriots and he won’t go anywhere in the near future. Head coach Belichick has a few great seasons to get him in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. White has an excellent relationship with his teammates and worked really well with Tom Brady. In his eight seasons with the Patriots, White earned three rings and became a key player on Belichick’s roster. Unfortunately, the talented player sustained a serious hip injury in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints last season. He was forced to miss the remainder of the season and of course, didn’t help his teammates beat the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card game.

Patriots fan-favorite may deliver similar performance in 2022

White has so much to offer and retiring is not even an option now. Belichick may have several running backs at the moment, but White has always been his go-to guy. Ethan Hurwitz from Sports Illustrated shared his predictions about the Patriots active roster in 2022. According to this, White will spend some time on the physically unable to perform list. Will this affect his future with the Patriots? That would be a big blow for the veteran.

In eight seasons with the Patriots, White did 570 yards from scrimmage per season. His consistency is impressive and Belichick appreciates his versatility. Many would agree that 2018 was his best year. White had 87 receptions for 751 yards and 7 scores. He also had 425 yards on the ground and 5 rushing touchdowns. White eclipsed 1,000 yards from scrimmage and fans went crazy! Hopefully, White delivers similar stats once he returns to the field. Let’s see what happens in training camp.
