NFL Writer Lists This Patriots Safety To ‘Explode Into Stardom’

The New England Patriots entered the NFL season with a few major needs. Head coach Bill Belichick had to fill some monster holes on his roster and it seems like he is happy with the way his team looks. Several Patriots players are expected to have a breakout season in 2022, including a talented safety.

Gary Davenport listed all the players who will deliver great performance in the upcoming season. According to him, players in this list have “the talent to be a star in the NFL, and a situation that should afford him the opportunity to show what he can do.”

Davenport believes that Kyle Dugger may be the safety who will soon become a star.

The Patriots safety to help the team win a title in 2022

New England got Dugger for a reason. Belichick used his 37th overall pick to select Dugger in the 2020 NFL Draft. His rookie season was really tough, but Dugger did a wonderful job in his second year with the Patriots. In 2021, the safety showed the Patriots that they made a really good decision.

The best part? Dugger has established a good relationship with his teammates. Devin McCourty praised his ability to ignore outside noise and slowly develop into a star.

“I love Dug,” the McCourty twin said on June 14. “The way he’s able to not care about what people are saying about him, what he’s done in the past — being a D-II player — he doesn’t care about any of that. Dug shows up, can do everything, can play in the deep part of the field, can cover.

“Obviously, if you watched any of our games, you know he can knock your head off. I just love watching him grow. I think sky’s the limit for him.”

Dugger and his teammates are entering a really important season. They have to improve their record and win more than seven games in 2022. Belichick has to overcome a few major obstacles, and hopefully, the Patriots will make the Super Bowl again. That would be the ultimate experience for young players on Belichick’s roster.
