Patriots Failed 1st-Round Pick Finally Traded

The New England Patriots made an expected move and one first-round pick had to be traded. Can you guess his name?

Yes, N’Keal Harry left the Patriots and signed a new deal with the Chicago Bears. This was an expected move because Harry struggled in so many ways. Bill Belichick selected him in the first round of the NFL Draft, but Harry was far from an ideal pick. He didn’t establish a strong connection with Tom Brady and this was just a hint about his struggles with the team.

Patriots first-round pick was traded for a reason

The wideout didn’t see much action with the team. He did worse than any other wideout on the Patriots roster. Moreover, NFL analysts say he was a big mistake. Harry’s failure was more than obvious. He was injured for a big chunk of his playing time, but he was also a healthy scratch for the team. Belichick elevated players from the practice squad just because he didn’t want to use Harry. Although Harry showed great performance in training camp last summer, he failed to meet expectations. To make things even worse, Harry requested a trade through his agent. He changed his mind and stayed with the Patriots in 2021. Did he make an impact? Not really…

Losing Harry won’t really affect Bill Belichick’s gameplan. He had a few big holes on the roster, but things look really good for the team now. Harry wasn’t a key player for the Patriots after all. We have a few good reasons to believe that Belichick would have cut Harry before the start of the regular season.

Belichick traded for DeVante Parker early in the offseason and he will probably stay up on the draft chart. Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers are also here. Belichick has a strong group and that’s the only thing that matters right now.

Chicago traded for a struggling player, but the new environment may help Harry show his true potential. The Bears have a nice quarterback and Harry will have to establish a good relationship with Justin Fields. Let’s see how things go for him.
