Patriots Massive Defensive Tackle Gets $20.8 Million Extension

New England Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux earned his contract extension with the team and will get $20.8 million. According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the defensive tackle inked a two-year deal and $17.85 million are guaranteed.

Godxhaux started his journey in the NFL as a member of the Miami Dolphins. They got him in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed a deal with the Patriots in 2021 and head coach Bill Belichick used him as a starter in 16 games. Godchaux delivered 65 tackles and one sack in his first season with the team. He measures at 6’3’’, 311 pounds and yes, Belichick will try to use more of it on the field in September. The Patriots could use a talented defensive tackle in 2022.

NFL analysts would add a thing or two, but Godchaux is really happy with his performance. It was one of his best seasons and he will definitely use it as a motivation to do even better in 2022. Those $20.8 million will add extra fuel to that motivation.

“I had one of my best seasons last season,” Godchaux said during a June appearance on the Jacques Talk podcast on WAFB. “I look forward to another dominant season this year.”

Patriots players started off training camp and everything is different now. The offense is making headlines, but assistants are doing a really good job on the defense, too.

The team promised to improve and training camp will help everyone sharpen their skills. Trent Brown is really happy with the way the offense works and Belichick is even happier.

Mac Jones and his teammates will do a lot of great things on the football field next season. They are working on their chemistry and this will lead the team to a better result. New England had a seven-game winning streak last season. Will they do better next time? We can only make guesses at this point. Belichick and his assistants had a busy offseason and the results are here. Can you make any predictions?
