Patriots Third-Year Pro Named Team’s ‘Best-Kept Secret’

The New England Patriots lost a few valuable players this offseason. Several veteran decided to take their talents somewhere else. Losing J.C. Jackson was probably the biggest blow for the team. Well, Belichick has a reason to pull out such move. It’s not like the Patriots don’t have any stars on their roster right now. Moreover, the Patriots roster will flash great dominance thanks to a third-year pro.

NFL analysts praised Kyle Dugger and share high expectations for the player.

Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report says Dugger is Bill Belichick’s “best-kept secret.”

“Over the first two seasons of his professional career, Kyle Dugger is probably best known for hailing from tiny Lenoir-Rhyne University. But if the 2021 season was any indication, by the time the 2022 campaign has come and gone, Dugger will be known as one of the league’s top young talents at safety.”

Patriots third-year Pro to make a difference in 2022

Dugger is on his way to have a spectacular season. He was good in 2021 and saw action in 15 games. It was a decent performance and Dugger delivered 4 interceptions, 5 pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and 92 tackles. Dugger was able to double his approximate value statistic from 3 to 6. His improved performance gave analysts a reason to drop a serious prediction about his game in the upcoming season.

The talented player can play against the run and in pass coverage. Cornerbacks can affect his game in serious way. Belichick has to take care of his cornerback unit. Malcolm Butler will take the lead this season, followed by Jack Jones and Jalen Mills. Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones will have to fight for a spot.

The Patriots entered the regular season with a few issues, but Belichick seems to be happy with the way his roster looks right now. Some players won’t survive the final roster trimmings though. Who will be the first to go? Things will be a lot clearer after training camp. Belichick will watch his team in the preseason and gather the players who can definitely make a difference in September.
