Bill Belichick Pulls No Punches After Patriots Failure In Preseason Finale

The New England Patriots lost the game to the Las Vegas Raiders. It was an unexpected loss. Yes, the Patriots faced serious criticism after the 2022 NFL Draft, but fans had a feeling that everything was set in place. Josh McDaniels and his team won the game against the Patriots. He won a game coached by his former mentor. Head coach Bill Belichick was loud and clear after the preseason finale.

Belichick criticized his team. Players made too many mistakes and finished the game with a 23-4 loss.

“We didn’t have a real good night tonight in any phase of the game,” Belichick told the media. “That’s obvious. We might have left it on the practice field on Tuesday and Wednesday. We certainly practiced a lot better than we played out there tonight. Obviously, we’re going to need to clean up a lot of things here.

“We didn’t play well in any phase of the game, didn’t play with any kind of consistency. We had a couple touchdowns called back, turned the ball over, didn’t play well on defense, didn’t play well in the kicking game. I’ve obviously got to do a better job. It starts with me. We’ll get back to work this week and work on the things we need to work on.

“Like I said, it’s disappointing because we did things a lot better in practice against the Raiders than we did tonight.”

Inconsistency was a big problem that day. Players struggled on defense and offense. Jarrett Stidham and his new team beat the Patriots. Fun fact? McDaniels rested his regulars.

The Patriots were “competitive” during practice, but failed to find a solution for Belichick’s squad.

“I’ve just got to get our team to a more consistent, higher competitive level than we were tonight,” the Patriots head coach said.

Belichick has to fix the damage and adjust his roster. Players have to avoid similar mistakes and prepare for the regular season. They play against the Miami Dolphins on September 11. They better win this one…
