Comedy Star Discusses Julian Edelman ‘Belichick Muffle,’ Comeback Thoughts

Julian Edelman gives people a reason to talk and yes, the New England Patriots can still count on his comeback. The former Patriots wideout announced his retirement due to health concerns. Fans have been talking about his return from the very first moment he announced his retirement.

Comedy star Brian Baumgartner talked to Edelman about this a few days ago. Will Edelman return to the field in the near future? The 2018 Super Bowl MVP didn’t really say no.

“If Tom [Brady] gave him a call, maybe he would go down to Tampa,” Baumgartner told Heavy.

This doesn’t change the fact that Edelman enjoys his post-retirement life. He needed time to rest and recover. The wideout used his free time to “bond” with the public. He was all over the media.

“It sounded [like] to me that he is really enjoying what he is doing,” Baumgartner added.

Julian Edelman has a reason to announce his comeback

Edelman talked about his former head coach, too. Baumgartner said that the wideout still has a “Belichick muffle” on him. What does that mean? Belichick is a man of a few words and he doesn’t say much about players’ personal decisions.

“We started talking about Bill and a little bit about the choice this year of not naming a primary offensive coordinator and potential reasons for that,” Baumgartner told Heavy. “And (Edelman) indicated that he thought Bill might be mad at him that Julian had done his imitation of Bill a little bit and that Bill might be thinking he is making fun of him and also not wanting to give up any trade secrets, as is the Patriot Way.”

Edelman enjoys doing impressions of people, but he wasn’t really into making one of his former head coach. He still talks with Belichick and this sparkled another discussion about Edelman’s potential return to the NFL.

The Patriots won a lot of games with Edelman on their field. Belichick would be happy to have him on the field and his experience could give players the right motivation for the new season. In his 11 seasons with the team, Edelman delivered 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns.
