Lakers LeBron James Linked to Former Team Amid Rumors

The Los Angeles Lakers believe that LeBron James will finish his career as a Laker, but some people say that he will re-sign with his former team. Is Cleveland an option for the four-time champion?

LeBron can ink a contract extension with the Lakers at any given moment. He wants to retire as a Laker and Jeanie Buss respects him. However, the Lakers haven’t really won games in the last couple of seasons. They got a title in Orlando and that’s it. LeBron and Anthony Davis missed a lot of games and the team didn’t make the playoffs. The king of basketball came to LA to win games.

LeBron James to sign with his former team

Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com bets on a reunion.

“For the wing-needy Cavs, it’s a situation worth watching,” he wrote on August 3. “They are open to the idea — even though the terms of a potential return would need to be radically different than 2014.”

Of course, the Cavaliers are not really focused on getting LeBron right now. They have a few valuable players to work with.

“Until a James extension is signed in Los Angeles, the Cleveland Cavaliers should be a team to keep an eye on next offseason,” Bobby Marks from ESPN wrote on August 3. ” The Cavaliers have a strong nucleus consisting of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and could have more than $30 million in cap space in 2023. Would James return for a third tenure in Cleveland if he views the Lakers roster as not championship-worthy?”

LeBron hasn’t made any comments about his future, but he would definitely consider going back to Cleveland.

“The door’s not closed on that,” LeBron said during the All-Star weekend. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”

We can only make guesses at this point. LeBron is a free agent in 2023 and he can do whatever fits his criteria. He has a few good options on the table right now.
