Lakers Linked to Potential Inking of 5-Time All-Star in 2024

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to another All-Star. Well, it will be really hard to get this one though. Several analysts have linked the team to Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and other stars. The Irving story made the hottest headlines. LeBron James’ former teammate will probably stay in Brooklyn and the Lakers have to move on with another big name. What about Klay Thompson?

He won a ring with the Golden State Warriors. Why would he ever leave the franchise? Here’s the catch. Thompson’s dad was a Laker. He even won a ring with the team. This may be the next hot topic and a Western Conference exec likes the idea.

“That would be fun, if he could play out the rest of his career where his dad won a ring,” the executive said of Thompson. “Not sure he would leave the Bay Area if he did not have to but if he had to pick a place, it’s a good bet he’d want to go to L.A. If they were to keep LeBron and (Anthony Davis) together and add Klay, it is a mix that makes a lot of sense as long as Klay can continue to be a plus defender and a 40% 3-point guy.”

Lakers may still get the All-Star

Thompson had a chance to make some moves early in his career. However, he didn’t leave the Warriors. In fact, he got four rings as a Warriors player. Thompson has earned his spot in the Hall of Fame. Stephen Curry and other Warriors players couldn’t wait to have Thompson back on the floor. He missed significant time due to injuries. He is back now and he is winning games with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

The Warriors are coming off of a good season. They have just won a championship and Thompson won’t give up on his time with the Warriors that easily. He may go after another big win with the team.

The Lakers may try their chances with Thompson despite the awkward situation. They have nothing to lose, right?
