Mind-Blowing Reason LeBron James Signed Extension With Lakers Revealed

The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to keep their superstar at any cost. LeBron James signed a contract extension with the Lakers and he will get $97.1 million in the next couple of years. Brian Windhorst from ESPN was among the first to confirm the signing and he even provided more info about the reasons LeBron had to make this move. His future in Los Angeles is secured and fans have a few good reasons to believe that their idol will retire as a Lakers player.

“Basically I was told because LeBron believes in the Lakers,” Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective podcast. “LeBron believes in the Lakers. Long story short.”

LeBron moved his business to Los Angeles and his kids got used to the new environment. He was linked to several teams and some even said that he’d go back to Cleveland. Well, LeBron will stay in Los Angeles. King James is officially the highest-earning player in league history.

“Sources briefed on the matter stress that James is extremely happy in Los Angeles despite the Lakers’ back-to-back rocky seasons,” Marc Stein reported. “He and his family, by all accounts, have grown increasingly entrenched in Southern California since James signed with the Lakers in the summer of 2018.”

The Lakers are coming off of a bad season. LeBron is here to make things better, but the front office has to make some changes, too. General manager Rob Pelinka has a few good options and he may consider giving up on his first-rounders. The 2021-22 NBA squad didn’t make an impact and the Lakers left the playoff run.

“L.A. has nonetheless pledged to James that it will indeed continue to aggressively pursue upgrades,” Stein reported. “League sources say James, in fact, has been assured that the Lakers are willing to trade both of their available future first-round picks in 2027 and 2029 if a trade that costs them both picks can realistically position the Lakers to return to contender status.”

Who will be the first player to leave the Lakers? Who will be the first player to join the Lakers? Kyrie Irving? LeBron is definitely a fan of this trade.
