NFL Insider Predicts Potential Patriots Surprise For 2022 Season

The New England Patriots are entering a really challenging season and the initial offensive struggles make the biggest headlines days. The Patriots had good practice in the preseason, but they weren’t really winning. Head coach Bill Belichick made some changes and he is still working on the 53-man roster. According to several analysts, a Patriots wide receiver may be the biggest surprise for the 2022 season.

Dan Graziano discussed the Patriots’ offense and all the potential scenarios. Nelson Agholor may be heading into a really good season and he may actually become a top target for quarterback Mac Jones.

“Agholor had a quiet first season in New England, and the team traded for DeVante Parker and drafted Tyquan Thornton in the second round to bolster a WR corps that already included Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers,” Graziano wrote in a column published Wednesday. “Oh, and don’t forget Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, the two free agent tight ends the Pats signed in 2021.

“It’s a crowded group of pass-catchers, to be sure, but the buzz out of New England this camp has been that Jones and Agholor have developed a reliable connection. There are many things we don’t know about how this offense will function in New England this year, but watch out for Agholor as a guy Jones has grown to like a lot.”

Patriots WR could be the best surprise in 2022

The Patriots had a few good reasons to get Agholor. He is coming off of a bad season and many thought that he’d be a top trade candidate in the offseason. Jones liked the wideout and he didn’t really support a potential trade. Jones and Agholor have the perfect chemistry and this will be of great help for the team in 2022. Agholor has to meet expectations and prove doubters wrong. Maybe he wasn’t a good fit for the 2021 Patriots team. Let’s see what happens next season. September is already here and Agholor has to shoot his best shot. Belichick and Patriots assistants trust Agholor’s potential and skill set.
