Patriots Advised To Trade For Former Raiders First-Rounder

The New England Patriots are looking for ways to improve their roster and they may soon trade for a former first-rounder. Head coach Bill Belichick wasn’t really happy with the way his team played against the Las Vegas Raiders, meaning he is getting ready for his final shots. The Patriots have a few potential scenarios on the table. Pulling out a few trades is definitely an option.

Ian Rapoport reported that Raiders’ Alex Leatherwood found his spot on the trade block. Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock used the No.17 pick to get him in the 2021 NFL Draft. Doug Kyed from Pro Football Focus agreed with Rapoport on this one. According to him, the talented player is a potential trade option for many teams.

Raiders ease the Patriots trade for their first-rounder

Josh McDaniels is the new head coach for the Raiders. New coaches and assistants tend to make some changes to the roster and there may be no room for Leatherwood at this point. He didn’t see much action in the preseason.

Sean T. McGuire believes that the Patriots has a chance to get Leatherwood and fix their offensive struggles. The offense has to overcome huge obstacles and prepare for tougher opponents.

New England looked great in practice, but players were out of sync in the preseason finale against the Raiders. It was a bad loss and Belichick was visibly disappointed. Who was responsible for the mess? Greg Bedard from the Boston Sports Journal said Trent Brown was “running his own play out of the old playbook.” Adding Leatherwood makes perfect sense for the team and he could help the offense. If things take a good turn for Leatherwood, he may earn a starting spot on Belichick’s roster. Is that even possible at this point?

The Patriots could get a durable player like Leatherwood. He saw action in each of the 17 games with the Raiders and started them all. How will the Patriots handle his presence? The Raiders may not need him anymore. That’s what makes him a good addition for the team.
