Patriots Leaving The Locker Open For Unsigned Star

The New England Patriots lost a few valuable players this offseason. Key veterans took their talents somewhere else. Head coach Bill Belichick may have enough luck to get one valuable veteran because he has yet to sign a deal with another team. According to several sources, the Patriots still want Dont’a Hightower back and the unsigned star could have a big role with the team again.

Hightower is one of the better players on the Patriots roster. He has three rings in his portfolio and that sure means a thing. Fun fact? Hightower hasn’t said anything about his future. Will he come back to Foxboro? Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported that the team would welcome the veteran back “with open arms.”

Patriots want the unsigned star back

Mark Daniels from the Providence Journal added fuel to the fire. The media approached the Patriots locker room following Thursday’s preseason opener against the New York Giants. He tweeted that Hightower’s locker “is still vacant.”

We were back in the Patriots locker room for the first time since the 2019 season.

One thing I noticed – the locker once held by Dont’a Hightower is still vacant. It’s prime real estate- near the exit – where lots of veteran LBs have been in the past.

Hightower didn’t have his best season in 2021, but he is really important for the Patriots. He is a physical, line-of-scrimmage linebacker who won a lot of games as a Patriots player.

The Patriots didn’t have Hightower in 2020 as he decided to sit out the season due to COVID concerns. In 2021, Hightower had some struggles on the field.

The veteran recorded 64 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss, and 4 quarterback hits this past season. Belichick has nothing but words of praise for Hightower. He may not be in his prime, but he could contribute to the game in 2022.

Having Hightower back in the fold would bring great relief to the Patriots. Belichick has a talented group of players and he seems to have created the perfect roster. Let’s see how this goes in 2022. It’s an important season for the team and everyone involved. Mac Jones will be leading the team and he has already established strong relations with his new teammates.
