Mac Jones, Patriots Players Have Secret Nickname For Rookie Tyquan Thornton

The New England Patriots felt a lot better following the win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. They needed this win. Everyone needed this win, including coaches and players. The ugly loss to the Miami Dolphins was a big blow for the team. There’s no room for despair though. Patriots players are motivated to win and yes, they are more than ready to win again. Some of them even crack jokes at the expense of their teammates. What about their nicknames? They all have nicknames. Quarterback Mac Jones earned a few in his first season with the Patriots. Now is time to come up with nicknames for each and every rookie. Well, Jones did mention that they have come up with a nickname for Tyquan Thornton, but he didn’t want to share it.

The Alabama quarterback went on WEEI’s “Merloni, Fauria & Mego” to talk about the win over the Steelers. He also talked about his teammates. Thornton has yet to make an impact on the football field, but his teammates didn’t waste any time and came up with a big nickname for him.

“He has a nickname. You’ll never guess it,” Jones said. “You’ll have to ask him.”

A fitting nickname for Tyquan Thornton

The quarterback didn’t share the nickname with hosts, but he did offer some hints. According to him, the nickname is related to an animated movie. Hosts mentioned Jack Skellington from “Nightmare Before Christmas,” Roadrunner of “Looney Tunes,” and a few more. They were all wrong.

Keagan Stiefel from NESN mentioned Lighting McQueen from the “Cars” franchise for obvious reasons. Thornton is a speedy player and this nickname would be a good fit. What about Bolt from “Bolt” Turbo? Woody from “Toy Story”? Shaggy, Scooby Doo’s human friend? There are so many guesses, such as Frozone from “The Incredibles”. Maybe Jones will reveal the nickname late in the regular season. He and his Patriots teammates face serious challenge and that’s the only thing that matters right now.

The Patriots are coming off of a good win. Will they repeat the same performance in the upcoming game?
