Status Of Patriots Top Wide Receiver In Question Heading Into Week 1

Head coach Bill Belichick needs all the help he can get for the first game of the regular season. The New England Patriots are playing against the Miami Dolphins and Belichick may be without his top receiver in Week 1.

The Patriots have released the final injury report heading into the game against the Dolphins. Meyers may miss the game due to a knee injury. The talented wide receiver saw limited action in practice and fans have some concerns about his performance in the upcoming game. This is not the only problem. Ty Montgomery, Joshua Bledsoe, and Isaiah Wynn were added to the injury report. Shaun Wade deals with ankle injury and he saw limited action in practice on Friday.

Patriots receiver has to make an impact in Week 1 of the 2022

Meyers may miss the game, but Wynn is definitely playing. He will be of great help in the game against the Dolphins and hopefully, his team will beat their opponents.

“It’s been real good,” Wynn said after the practice. “I’m excited to go out there Sunday.”

When asked if he was concerned about his status in Week 1, Wynn said, “I’ve been practicing all week. I’m here.”

Meyers had a good season with the Patriots. He showed great performance on the field, delivering 83 receptions for 866 yards which was better than other Patriots receivers. The 2021 season was Meyers’ career season and he has a nice foundation for the new season. Now he is motivated to do better in 2022.

Meyers’ status may change this time. The Patriots traded for DeVante Parker and he will probably be the leading receiver on the field in 2022. Belichick also got Tyquan Thornton, so things may be a bit shaky for Meyers.

New England looks a lot different now. Belichick made some changes to the receiving unit. Kendrick Bourne had some struggles in the preseason and this struggles may push him down the unit. Thornton will miss at least four games. Meyers should use the opportunity and earn his spot on the top.
