Bailey Zappe Grandfather Sends Big Message To Patriots’ Official Website

Bailey Zappe is making his grandfather proud. He led the New England Patriots to a win over the Detroit Lions, right? The Patriots had to trust the rookie, because their quarterback is dealing with a high ankle sprain. As if this wasn’t enough, Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t have any other option.

Doug Zappe has an advice for the Patriots and he delivered it through his answer to Paul Perillo’s mailbag call. According to Zappe Sr., the Patriots should keep the rookie at quarterback.

“Why not let Bailey Zappe do what he does best, pass to that great group of playmakers?” grandpa Zappe asked. “I’ve watched him since he was 5, and he can pick apart defenses if given any time at all. Once he gets in a rhythm with the starting group, who he’s barely been able to work with, you may see the future. Of course, I’m prejudiced, being his grandfather.”

Bailey Zappe makes his grandfather happy with every game he plays

The Patriots may use Zappe on Sunday. Although reports suggest that he may return to the field on Sunday, Zappe has a chance to start another game and play his best football again.

Latest updates suggest that Jones won’t be 100 percent by Sunday. If Jones doesn’t get ready for the game against the Browns, Belichick will put his rookie on the field again.

In his two games with the Patriots, Zappe was able to complete 27 of 36 passes for 287 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. These numbers aren’t crazy, but Zappe did a really good job as a starter. He wasn’t even prepared for this challenge!

Belichick told Zappe that he will have to lead the team against the Green Bay Packers. He was thrown in the fire and no, he didn’t show any panic. Zappe accepted the challenge and gave the Packers a terrible headache. NFL analysts praised Belichick for this move. Using a rookie was a bold move, but Belichick didn’t have any other choice. Many would agree that this was his best coaching so far.
