Patriots Are Reportedly Getting Frequent Wide Receiver Trade Calls

The New England Patriots may place one wide receiver on the trade block sooner than expected. Is Kendrick Bourne on his way out?

Bourne is a really talented player, but he is not getting much playing time this season. Jeremy Fowler from ESPN reported that “multiple teams” have contacted the Patriots about their wide receiver. Bill Belichick respects his players and he won’t let Bourne go that easily. The receiving unit needs depth and losing a good WR is not a good idea.

Bill Belichick has a reason to trade the wide receiver

Belichick made several unexpected moves in the offseason and decided to keep Bourne on his team. Of course, the wideout may leave the team at the trade deadline.

Bourne stacked 800 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the 2021 NFL season. It wasn’t his best performance which is more than enough for Belichick to move on from him. How will things go for Bourne? He had a bad start of the season. Matt Patricia didn’t like the fact that Bourne was late for a preseason meeting. The receiver played just two snaps in the season opener. Was this a punishment for the veteran? His attitude was listed as a problem for the Patriots and Bourne’s situation may turn into a mess sooner than expected.

Things changed a bit lately. Bourne did 11 of 14 targets so far in the season. Unfortunately, he left the game against the Cleveland Browns due to a turf toe. Andrew Callahan from the Boston Herald reported that Bourne’s situation “doesn’t seem that serious.”

The Patriots like Bourne, but they may soon get a good offer. Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders may be the best destination for Bourne. The Raiders need a strong receiver as they haven’t seen the best from Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Mac Hollins.

Guess what… Bourne may not be the only player to leave the team. The same goes to Nelson Agholor. His drop led to an interception in the game against the Detroit Lions.

Losing these two won’t be that easy, but Belichick has DeVante Parker and Tyquan Thornton on the roster. Bourne and Agholor may finish the season somewhere else.
