Peter King Gives Bill Belichick Week 4 Award After Packers Loss

The New England Patriots lost a game to the Green Bay Packers, but it wasn’t that bad at all. Unlike Patriots doubters, Peter King didn’t criticize head coach Bill Belichick for the Week 4 loss. Moreover, he praised the Patriots head coach for the great job his players did in the game against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

It’s interesting to note that Belichick was without some of his key players. Quarterback Mac Jones was out due to a high ankle injury and Jakobi Meyers didn’t play either. Cornerback Jalen Mills missed the game, leaving Belichick with just a handful of key players. It didn’t make any difference at all. Brian Hoyer stepped in as a replacement for Jones, but his injury forced Bailey Zappe into the starting position. The rookie quarterback did better job than expected. Jack Jones did well, too. These two and the rest of the Patriots roster gave Rodgers and his teammates a big headache. Yes, the Packers won the game, but it wasn’t an easy win.

Bill Belichick did a wonderful job in Week 4

King had great words for the Patriots despite their loss. He was impressed by the fact that Belichick relied on rookies to shut down someone like Rodgers. The Patriots took the game in overtime and their opponents had to try really hard to win this one.

“All you need to know about the Belichick gameplan is this: Someone named Bailey Zappe played most of the game at quarterback for New England in hallowed Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers,” King wrote for NBC Sports. “…The game went to overtime … Zappe had a higher passer rating than Rodgers … Rodgers threw a pick-six to another unknown Pats rookie, Jack Jones … And the Packers needed all 10 minutes of OT to eke out a 27-24 win. The Patriots are 1-3, but if Belichick ever coached a game that was a moral victory, this was it.”

Belichick and his team will go against the Detroit Lions this Sunday. It’s another challenging game for the team, but players are confident about winning this one. Rookies almost beat Rodgers! Guess what, doubters… The Patriots are stronger than you can ever imagine.
