Pro Bowl Linebacker Joins Patriots For 4th Time

The New England Patriots brought their Pro Bowl linebacker back. Head coach Bill Belichick will use all the help he can get to win games. Getting Jamie Collins back? Why not…

The team confirmed that they would re-sign a linebacker who knows the scheme. Collins is more than ready to join the Patriots for another stint and the Patriots added him to the practice unit on Monday.

Belichick drafted Collins in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He left the team in 2016 and came back in 2019. The Patriots lost him in 2021 and he is back again. A real roller coaster, right?

Collins played 76 of his 122 games in New England and had his best game with the team. As a Patriot, the veteran linebacker delivered 318 total tackles, 18.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, nine interceptions, and five fumble recoveries.

The Pro Bowl linebacker joins the Patriots for a reason

Patriots head coach Belichick really likes Collins which is probably the biggest factor for his return. Fans will always remember Collins’ interception of Sam Darnold in 2021. Belichick was impressed and delivered great words of praise for the veteran.

“That play Jamie made, I don’t know how many players in the league can make that play. Not very many. It was a tremendous play,”  Belichick said. “He was like five yards away from the quarterback throwing as hard as he could. That’s a pretty tough catch.”

Jerod Mayo witnessed this reaction. He heard Belichick’s reaction and yes, coach B used the word “unbelievable” to describe what Collins did during the game.

“I just remember hearing Coach (Belichick) on the headset like, ‘That’s unbelievable.’ And he’s been coaching a lot longer than I have,” Mayo told the media.

Let’s see how things got his time. Belichick had a strong reason to get Collins. Hopefully, the veteran will deliver similar performance in his fourth stint with the team.

The Patriots have three losses on the chart now and they are going after a second win. Belichick will coach against the Detroit Lions on Sunday and it’s a game you don’t want to miss.
