Clear Signs Pointing To Patriots Legend Preparing For Retirement

The New England Patriots may soon lose a legend because one of their better players is probably planning his retirement. The NFL world discussed the hints, and yes, Devin McCourty will probably call it career sooner than expected.

McCourty is one of the key players on Bill Belichick’s roster. He was the top player to fill the free safety position and yes, he has earned his spot in the Hall of Fame. McCourty was brilliant over the years and losing him would be a big blow for the Patriots. Belichick will have to find a replacement if McCourty decides to call it career.

The Patriots legend to announce his retirement just like his brother

McCourty enters free agency after the 2022 NFL season. His playing elite football this season, but some believe this may be the final year in the NFL.

Greg Bedard from Boston Sports Journal discussed the potential hints McCourty left behind. Is he really planning his retirement? His brother, Jason, has already retired and now works on Good Morning Football. Devin won three rings with the Patriots and has an army of fans at the sideline. He started nine games and had two interceptions.

“Interesting that he [Devin McCourty] will be appearing on CBS NFL coverage on Sunday: He’ll first appear on “The Other Pregame Show” on CBS Sports Network, which airs at 9 a.m,” Bedard pointed out. “He’ll appear on “The NFL Today” on CBS around noon. Sounds like an audition to me.”

McCourty is part of a strong secondary along with Adrian Phillips, Kyle Dugger, and Jabrill Peppers. Patriots cornerbacks Jonathon Jones, Jack Jones, and Jalen Mills add the much-needed strength to the Patriots roster.

The Patriots didn’t give McCourty a multiyear deal. He signed a one-year deal with the team. If Belichick doesn’t give him a big deal, the veteran will probably retire. Going somewhere else is not really an option because McCourty spent his entire career with the Patriots.
