The Los Angeles Lakers may lose their chance to win a title this season. NBA experts wouldn’t bet on the Lakers, suggesting that Rob Pelinka’s team won’t make the playoffs again. LeBron James came to LA to win rings and got just one so far. Is he happy with his current situation? Absolutely not. Some even believe that LeBron actually warned the front office with his most recent cryptic message.
The Lakers entered the 2022-23 NBA season with a big goal. They didn’t make big trade moves in the offseason, but did hire a new head coach. Darvin Ham promised to handle Russell Westbrook’s situation. Yes, Westbrook had some issues last season and he is doing a decent job this time. He embraced a bench role and delivers nice stats each and every night. It seems like Westbrook is not the only issue LA had last season.
LeBron warns the front office
Do you know that the Lakers are 0-4 at this point of the season? A LeBron-led team is 0-4 for the first time since his rookie campaign. In other words, LeBron has a few good reasons to be frustrated. He scored 19 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists in the loss to the Denver Nuggets. He shot 8-for-21 from the field and 2-for-8 from beyond the arc. His numbers are great, but it wasn’t his best shot. LeBron can do better than this. The front office can do better than this.
The four-time NBA champion voiced his concerns on Instagram. He mentioned something about being “taken for granted.” Are the Lakers really taking him for granted? That’s what Kendrick Perkins said. LeBron is a winner and his current team struggles to win games. The Lakers gave him an extension and he will become a free agent really soon. Will he try his chances somewhere else?
If the Lakers can’t put a good team together, LeBron won’t waste the final years of his career for nothing. He may break his ties with the team and go somewhere else.
The Lakers have enough time to find a solution. They have already been linked to several players. Maybe Pelinka will trade some of his assets and picks to get another big name. Recent sources suggest that the Lakers have shown interest in Miles Bridges. That’s a nice start, right?
