Frustrated Patriots Veteran Calls Out Coaching Staff

The New England Patriots deal with a serious roster issue. One of their players seems to have issues with the Patriots coaching staff and things don’t look good for the veteran. Patriots owner Robert Kraft has great respect for Bourne and his performance, but the veteran’s future with the team is hanging in the air.

It started in training camp. Coaches asked Bourne to leave the field during a scrimmage in training camp. They also cut his playing time. Matt Patricia doesn’t like his attitude and the fact that Bourne was late for one of their meetings.

The Patriots are coming off of a terrible loss to the Buffalo Bills and Bourne used the opportunity to criticize coaches. He was never a fan of the new offensive system and didn’t even try to hide his disappointment.

“No Von Miller, we gotta take advantage of that,” Bourne said. “No Micah Hyde, things like that. We have to take advantage of those things. They’re playing a different scheme. They’re more soft in what they’re doing, so they’re more conservative. We’ve gotta take advantage and not just have 5-yard throws and moving slow. We need to be able to attack and put pressure on the defense.”

Patriots players agree with the veteran regarding the coaching staff

The Bills destroyed the Patriots with an incomplete roster. They played without Von Miller and Micah Hyde. Why did the Patriots lost the game?

“We’ve got to get the ball downfield,” Bourne said. “Mac needs more time. He’s obviously running around. It’s hard to get the ball downfield when you can’t really have time to throw. No knock to the line, it’s just what we need to work on. The receivers can’t do nothing if the ball can’t get downfield, if we can’t throw it past 5 yards, it’s going to be a long game. We have to be able to get the ball downfield. We have plays, we can’t get to them. We’re calling them. They’re just not working, so we’re throwing 5-yard routes and that’s what we catch so it looks one way. Hopefully we can get Mac more time so he can make the plays.”

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones agrees with Bourne. Patricia wants him to throw short passes, but the outcome is terrible.

Bourne said that his teammates have to get the ball downfield and give Jones more time.
