Hall Of Famer Calls Out Patriots For ‘Crappy Concept’ In 2022

The New England Patriots have a 6-6 record at this point of the 2022 NFL season and analysts have a few reasons to be worried. Head coach Bill Belichick changed his coaching staff and altered the offensive system. The Patriots went through a wave of changes in the summer. Are they better than before? Hall of Famer Kurt Warner had something to say about the Patriots concept and their struggles in the regular season.

The Patriots have received serious criticism following the most recent loss to the Buffalo Bills. Belichick built a dynasty many years ago. Will his dynasty survive the “bad weather”?

Warner wasn’t too mild when speaking about the Patriots’ struggles. He called out their offensive line and criticized offensive coaches.

“You can be put in a bad spot as a quarterback, where you can sit back and say, we got to make the most of it … but I don’t want to make the most of a crappy concept,” said Warner, as referenced by Karen Guregian. “I don’t want to try to make it work when it’s a bad concept. So you have to be able to work together to figure out what that looks like for the quarterback, so the quarterback’s comfortable when they go out there.”

The Hall of Famer discussed Jones’ situation in the new Patriots concept

Mac Jones received a lot of heat this season. Fans blame him for the bad record, claiming that his future with the team may not be secure. Jones had a great first season with the team, but his second year was less than average. Did he have the weapons he needed to win?

“At the end of the day, if the guy with the ball in his hands isn’t comfortable,” Warner added.  “You’re never going to be good on offense.”

Belichick made a decision and everyone knows he respects Matt Patricia. The latter may even replace Belichick in the future. Patricia’s offensive scheme didn’t sit well with some players and there’s a tension at the sideline. Kendrick Bourne voiced his concerns about the offense, calling out coaches for the moves they made. How will the great Bill Belichick solve this?
