Austin Reaves Sounds Off On Coach Darvin Ham After Lakers Beat Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers face the biggest challenge this season. LeBron James is out and they have to beat strong opponents. Well, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham won’t have to worry as long as Austin Reaves wears his purple and gold jersey.

Reaves steals the show every time his team hits the floor. He’s been spectacular in the last few games, giving the Lakers a chance to defeat great teams. Reaves and his Lakers teammates beat the Orlando Magic and the Phoenix Suns. Coach Darvin offered him a starting role in the win over the Suns and Reaves got the best of it.

Ham turned Reaves into starter in Lakers vs. Suns

It’s interesting to note that Reaves doesn’t mind being a starter. He doesn’t mind being out of the starting lineup, too. The young guard is focused on his game. The Lakers have to make the playoffs this season and Reaves is ring.

“He pulled me aside yesterday after practice and told me that I would be starting,” Reaves said via the NBA Interviews YouTube channel. “But for me, it’s truly the same mindset going into every game, and it’s win. At all costs, win. And that’s all that really matters. So, there’s not much different starting [or] not starting. For me, it’s really just go out and play basketball the way that I always have and the way that I love.”

Reaves’ monster performance surprised opponents. In the win over the Suns, the young guard delivered 25 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, 1-of-1 shooting from the three-point line, and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Reaves may be a second-year player, but he has already caught the eye of top experts. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are proud of his accomplishment. The young player improved a lot and the Lakers are happy to have him on their roster. Reaves has a chance to build a strong career with the Lakers. We have a good feeling that Rob Pelinka won’t let him go in the near future.
